Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico 2004 by Bertani
Winter was wet and cold, restoring the usual Valpolicella climate conditions. The regular spring enabled a normal bloom, allowing a regular production in terms of quantity. There were splendid sunny days and cool nights during vintage time, the ideal combination for the maturation of corvina grapes to turn out colourful and healthy.
Assemblage: Corvina 80%, rondinella 20%.
Colour: Dark purple red colour.
Aroma: Striking for the intensity and the wide range of aromas and very distinct flavours, like notes of plum, cherry, blackcurrant jam, followed by notes of spices, hay, tea leaf, liquorice and cocoa.
Palate: Very pleasant and rich on the palate, revealing its structure, complex tannins, pure sweetness yet balancing acidity. The aftertaste is long and fruity.
Ageing: Revealing the depths of its tertiary aromas and flavours round about now, but its a slow-grower that will reward more time yet.
