Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico 2005 by Bertani
In 2005 weather conditions were not so different from the average trend of Valpolicella climate during the winter and early spring. From the flowering to the ripening of grapes, weather was good with warm days but not muggy, with insolation and temperatures in the average, spaced out by some summer thunderstorms. The beginning of September was characterised by rainy days that did not compromise the quality of the grapes as sunny and windy days followed. During the months of October and November temperatures and humidity level were below the seasonal average, allowing a very good fading for the grapes.
Assemblage: Corvina 80%, rondinella 20%.
Alcohol: 15%
Colour: Dark red colour, with ruby-red highlights.
Aroma: Surprising, pleasant fragrances that emanate, starting with cherry, blackcurrant jam and prunes, and going on with interesting sweet spicy scents among which tea leaves, hay, coffee, liquorice, dried fruits and cocoa stand out.
Palate: Expresses the same sensations detected in the nose only rounder and more pleasant, and maintained by a good acidity. The silky tannins perceptible in the mouth underline the dense texture of this vintage, confirmed by the long aftertaste.
Ageing: Coming into its peak, but may well become even more complex over the next ten years.
