Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico 2007 by Bertani
The 2007 vintage benefited from factors that made it an extraordinary year. The seasonal trend was decidedly unique: average temperatures that were constantly above historic levels, combined with generally lower rainfalls, enabled early budbreak, regulation flowering and perfect grape ripening. There were splendid sunny days and cool nights during vintage time, the ideal combination for the aromatic maturation of corvina grapes.
Assemblage: Corvina 80%, rondinella 20%.
Alcohol: 15%
Colour: Intense garnet, now tending towards translucence.
Aroma: Appealing, with hints of red fruit, prunes and sweet spices such as cloves and cinnamon. The liquorice, box hedge, thyme and nutty overtones develop later.
Palate: Caressing, with supple and elegant tannins which add structure to the wine.
Ageing: The tannin and freshness from this vintage should hold it up for many years to come.
