Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico 2012 by Bertani
A fine wine from a fine vintage, Bertani’s classic-as-hell style matching perfectly with a vintage we described as ‘tricky, but rewarding’ – well befitting the skill and old-school knowhow of a winemaker like Bertani. The newest vintage added to the Bertani family.
Assemblage: Corvina 80%, rondinella 20%.
Colour: Deep violet with garnet hues.
Aroma: Classic cherries, red and black with a maraschino edge. Spicy, with a pepper and cinnamon edge. Whiffs of cigar and forest floor hint at greatness to come.
Palate: Full and rich, no backing down from this wine, but nonetheless clearly integrated tannin and acidity. Finish already long and complex.
Ageing: You could set this one down and not think about it for a decade at least before drinking.
