Amarone della Valpolicella Docg “Monte Lodoletta” by Romano Dal Forno
The Amarone “Monte Lodoletta” by Romano Dal Forno is more than a prestigious emblem of the Valpolicella region; it is a shining star in the broader landscape of Italian wine. It is more than just an exceptional Amarone; it is a remarkable red wine that captivates with its elegance, complexity, and aromatic depth. Its long ageing process in barriques allows the wine to reach an expressive balance and extraordinary elegance and finesse.
The Amarone della Valpolicella “Monte Lodoletta” is one of the flagship labels from Romano Dal Forno, managing a 25-hectare estate in the Val d’Illasi. The hillside area to the northwest of Verona has always been primed for growing red grapes. Its chalky soils and mild climate, influenced by the breezes from the nearby Lake Garda, provide a perfect habitat for indigenous grape varieties: Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara.
Romano Dal Forno’s famed Amarone “Monte Lodoletta” is crafted with a blend of traditional grapes grown in this beautiful hilly area: Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara. The harvest involves selecting only perfectly ripe and healthy bunches. The grapes are then dried for about 4 months to concentrate the aromas and sugars. The wine matures for at least 60 months in barriques before bottling. It has a dark ruby-red color. On the nose, it expresses an elegant bouquet with aromas of ripe red fruit, cherry, plum, licorice root, soft spices, bitter cocoa, and chocolate notes. The taste is broad, warm, and enveloping, with dense, persistent flavors, and polished tannins. The finish is long and highly harmonious. Romano Dal Forno’s wines are a beacon for the entire Valpolicella region.
