Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico 1976 by Bertani
A real piece of history, a wine from a different era with priorities that are exceptionally hard to find these days, and a real rare offering from Bertani’s back catalogue.
Assemblage: Corvina and rondinella.
Alcohol: 15%
Colour: Translucent, purply but with an almost magenta tinge.
Aroma: True agrodolce fruit but with remarkably retained spice and hints of leather, as well as a hint of underlying power and finesse.
Palate: Tannins still noticeable, fine and grainy, with refined acidity balancing some real power with real delicacy.
Ageing: At its peak now and for the next five years or so.
