Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico 2000
The millennium vintage, and a stunning one. During the springtime rains and temperatures kept to the average. July and August were quite warm, with refreshing rains. The beginning of September stood out for its abundant rain, but then warm and dry days followed in October allowing the good ripening of grapes. The harvest was perfect, with healthy grapes promising a great organoleptic balance.
Assemblage: Corvina 80%, rondinella 20%.
Colour: Deep red with garnet nuances.
Aroma: Intense and persuasive on the nose, the rich bouquet is immediately striking, revealing blackcurrant jam and fresher notes of blackberries and dry plum, followed by chocolate, sweet spices, tea leaves, liquorice and dried fruits.
Palate: Powerful tannins, yet the wine is nonetheless soft and velvety. Very intense, bold and pleasant with fine balance between acidity and smoothness.
Ageing: Perhaps a perfect time to start really exploring what this wine has to offer.
