“Primofiore” by Giuseppe Quintarelli
“Primofiore” by Giuseppe Quintarelli is an elegant, rich and intense red, born in the magnificent hilly area of Valpolicella. It is the result of an interesting and unusual blend of the classic red grape varieties of the area, Corvina, Corvinone and the famous Bordeaux vines Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. After a year of aging in wood, the result is a wine of great personality that expresses a soft enveloping profile with notes of cherry, red fruit, accompanied by refined tertiary evolutions.
Primofiore is the result of Giuseppe Quintarelli’s desire to go beyond the horizon of Valpolicella, to create a wine that could express a more international flavor, while keeping faith with the tradition of drying grapes, typical of the area. Giuseppe Quintarelli needs no introduction. It belongs to the small circle of the great names of Italian wine, who have made our excellence known all over the world. The Negrar winery is a real essential point of reference for the history of Valpolicella and above all of its most famous wine: Amarone. The vineyards are located in the prized areas of Sant’Ambrogio in Montorio and Valgatara, on predominantly calcareous soils. The great attention in the vineyard and the careful vinification, allow to obtain wines capable of telling the territory in an authentic way.
Primofiore Quintarelli wine is a wine that combines the tradition of the reds of Valpolicella with that of Bordeaux. At the end of the harvest, the grapes are left to dry for about a month before proceeding to fermentation. Before bottling, the wine ages for a year in large Slavonian oak barrels. In the glass it has a dark ruby red color with slight garnet reflections. The nose opens on floral notes reminiscent of violet, aromas of cherry, ripe red fruit and nuances of soft spices. On the palate it has good structure, evolved tannins well integrated with the body of the wine, rich and complex aromas. The finish is harmonious and very persistent, with a finish that returns to savory and slightly spicy sensations. A great red, signed by one of the best “authors” of Italian wine.
