Description

Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico 2019 by Vigneti di Ettore

The 2019 Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico from Vigneti di Ettore brings together tradition and expertise in Valpolicella Classica. Rooted in the Negrar region, near the Casetta del Gottardo overlooking Lake Garda, this winery has cultivated vineyards since 1930. Under the leadership of Ettore Righetti, a key figure in the Negrar winery, the estate began bottling its own wines in 2011, continuing its focus on balance and refinement.

This wine is crafted from 50% Corvina, 25% Corvinone, 10% Croatina, 10% Rondinella, and 5% Oseleta, bringing together the region’s signature grape varieties. With 15% alcohol, it presents a bold yet elegant profile. The wine matures for 30 months in tonneau, followed by an additional year in the bottle, allowing the flavors to integrate and develop complexity.

Tasting Notes

  • Aroma: Ripe plum and blackberry lead, complemented by sweet spice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and hints of dry wood and wax.
  • Palate: A full-bodied structure supported by firm tannins and fresh acidity. Over time, notes of toasted barley coffee and carob emerge, adding depth and refinement.
  • Finish: Intense and long-lasting.

Pairing Suggestions

This Amarone pairs well with red meats, game, and mature cheeses, complementing their rich flavors with its balance and structure.

Vigneti di Ettore focuses on producing wines with clarity and elegance, favoring freshness and drinkability. Minimal wood influence in the cellar ensures a pure expression of the fruit, allowing each bottle to develop gracefully over time.

About Vigneti di Ettore

Vigneti di Ettore is built on generations of winemaking in Valpolicella Classica, where tradition and thoughtful innovation shape each bottle. The story began in 1930, when Gioanin purchased the Casetta, a home surrounded by vineyards that laid the foundation for what the estate is today. Over the years, Ettore Righetti expanded the land, selecting plots in the most suitable areas of Negrar to ensure each vineyard expressed the character of the region.

Today, the estate covers 19 hectares, divided among Moron, Jago, Osteria Vecchia, Costa del Buso, and Casetta. Alongside Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella, the winery cultivates lesser-known native varieties such as Turchetta, Pelara, Recantina, and Spigamonti, reinforcing a commitment to diversity and adaptability in the vineyard.

A Focus on Balance and Freshness

The wines are crafted with the idea that elegance matters more than weight. Rather than pushing for power, the focus remains on aroma, freshness, and drinkability. The range moves naturally from the lighter reds of Valpolicella Classico to the depth of Amarone, always maintaining clarity and balance.

Every decision in the vineyard and cellar follows a principle of removing excess rather than adding weight, allowing the purity of each grape to shine. Traditional pergola-trained vines shield the clusters from excessive sun exposure, helping to preserve the freshness and complexity that define these wines.

Sustainability and Organic Practices

The move toward organic and sustainable farming was a natural step for the family, driven by a belief that the work done today must support future generations. The winery follows a circular economy model, maintaining biodiversity and respecting the natural cycles of the land. Every grape is hand-harvested in small plateaux, ensuring gentle handling and careful selection before winemaking begins.

Winemaking as a Collective Effort

At the heart of Vigneti di Ettore is a team that works together with a shared purpose. Gabriele, representing the new generation, builds on the expertise passed down through his family while incorporating new techniques from his experience in other regions. His approach balances tradition with a fresh perspective, always seeking to refine quality while staying true to the land.

The harvest season ends with Galzega, a long-standing tradition that brings everyone together to celebrate the work behind each vintage. This moment highlights the collaboration and dedication of those who contribute to the wines.

Vigneti di Ettore remains committed to careful vineyard management and a measured approach in the cellar, producing wines that reflect both the land and the hands that shape them.
