2019
Amarone & Valpolicella wines from 2019
2019 got producers across Italy excited, and Valpolicella was no exception. Decreased productivity owing to a chilly spring meant long, slow maturation for the grapes, while a late summer gave it just the boost it needed to get that sugar content up to scratch. As is often the case lower yields meant somewhat higher quality for this year, and the stuff out of the bottles has been pretty well undeniable. Remarkably transparent and perfumy wines have been the rule, though those fonder of heft extract have equally found much to love as their superripe grapes delievered the goods and then some. A terrific year for Amarone.
