Description

Amarone della Valpolicella Docg Classico “Albasini” 2017 by Villa Spinosa

“Albasini” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico by Villa Spinosa represents the winery’s vision of a traditional, refined Amarone. This 2017 vintage is characterized by its subtle complexity and classical elegance, making it the definitive selection within their wine portfolio.

Dedicated since 2010 to the Albasini family, early cultivators of Figari’s vineyard terraces, this wine originates from one of Valpolicella Classica’s finest vineyard locations overlooking Marano di Valpolicella. Principally blended from carefully selected Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, and a hint of Rondinella grapes, “Albasini” reflects the character of its calcareous soils, modest altitude, and western exposure.

After meticulous manual harvesting, grapes undergo natural drying, losing approximately 30% of their weight. Vinification in stainless steel precedes extended maturation: first one year in French oak tonneaux, followed by four years in large Slavonian oak casks, and concluding with an additional year resting in the bottle.

The result is a garnet-hued Amarone with enticing aromas of blackberry, black currant, and bilberry interwoven with intriguing nuances of vanilla, tobacco, chocolate, caramel, and spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. On the palate, it impresses with gentle tannins, sophisticated balance, and harmonious structure despite its robust 16% alcohol content.

Perfectly suited to pairings with roasted meats and game dishes, “Albasini” is equally compelling savored slowly after dinner. Best enjoyed at 18°C in large glasses, this wine promises to age gracefully, rewarding patient wine lovers over the next 15 to 20 years.

Limited production: only 3,200 bottles available.

About Villa Spinosa

Villa Spinosa Winery is set on the elevated lands of Jago, near Negrar, at the base of the picturesque Colle Masua hill, producing authentic traditional wines of Valpolicella.

The estate combines historic charm with modern hospitality, offering renovated farmhouses converted into wine cellars, guest accommodations, and spaces perfect for guided tastings, tours, events, and weddings. Central to the property is a graceful 19th-century villa complemented by an Italian-style garden blending geometric pathways with lush Mediterranean plants, exotic blooms, and citrus trees, all framed by the scenic vistas of Valpolicella.

The vineyards, Jago, Figari, and Costa del Buso, are among the area's most prestigious cru sites, each expressing distinct characteristics shaped by their unique microclimates, soil types, and expert viticultural practices. Villa Spinosa cultivates exclusively local grape varieties, enhancing the natural features of each vineyard.

Villa Spinosa’s dedicated team combines passion and professional expertise, supported by expert consultants, bringing a dream into a vibrant cultural and commercial reality. The winery stands as a dynamic symbol of innovation while honoring Valpolicella's deep-rooted wine traditions.

Architecturally, the Villa itself reflects a classical elegance with its symmetrical design and refined stone detailing, exemplifying the sophisticated aesthetic of the 19th-century Veneto region. The carefully restored outbuildings, once essential for farming operations, now house modern production facilities, preserving their historical integrity and charm.

The meticulous vineyard management and attentive winemaking processes ensure that each bottle reflects the authenticity of its origin. The cellar practices include separate harvesting, fermentation, and aging for each vineyard, allowing wines such as the renowned Amarone Guglielmi di Jago, aged up to 20 years, and the aromatic Figari Valpolicella Classico Superiore to mature and reveal their true character.

Villa Spinosa invites guests to savor the elegance of Valpolicella, appreciating wines deeply connected to their land and nurtured with thoughtful care.
