Nicolis Wines
Perhaps the major winemakers of the village of San Pietro in Cariano, Azienda Agricola Nicolis have over sixty developed a reputation for fresh, fruit-centered and careful wines that elevate the palate and sooth the soul.
In 1951, a farmer by the name of Angelo Nicolis joined a postwar wave of farmers in purchasing his own small plot of land and a winery in San Pietro in Cariano. They have expanded since then, but are still near-boutique winery in size, owning 40 hectares and producing only 16,000 cases a year.
Now helmed by Angelo’s sons Giancarlo and Giuseppe, respectively the man who works the vines and the man who works the cellar, there is, from their Rosso Verona IGT all the way up to their flagship ‘Ambrosan’ Amarone, evidence of that heritage, that care and that renown.
Expect from Nicolis wines remarkable freshness, extraordinary fruit-character and a really serious approach to oak (present but not excessive). A small but bright star of artisan craftsmanship and commitment to uniqueness.
