Valpolicella Ripasso DOC Superiore by Musella
Valpolicella Ripasso di Musella is a surprising red produced a few steps from Verona. It is here that Emilio Pasqua and his daughter Maddalena carry on the family business, moving away from the conventional procedures of agriculture and winemaking, giving a totally fresh imprint to the wines of Valpolicella. Calcareous soils, rich in ferrous red clay, cultivated in harmony with nature where the passion for the product and the environment allows the production of wines free from market conditions, expression of the terroir and rich in taste.
The Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso Musella is obtained from a blend of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Barbera. The plants coexist harmoniously with fruit trees and courtyard animals, allowing the total absence of chemical fertilization. Very interesting is the treatment with fresh milk of the day which creates a protein film that protects against fungi. The bunches see a drying of 15% of the grapes and subsequent fermentation exclusively with the aid of indigenous yeasts. Maceration on the skins lasts from 12 to 15 days and then the wine passes over 65% of the Amarone marc, with periodic pumping over and malolactic fermentation. The refinement is done for 12 months in large oak barrels without excessively influencing the olfactory and gustatory properties of the liquid.
This Ripasso by Musella has a deep ruby red in the glass. The aroma is intense and the nose is immediately tickled by aromas of ripe red fruit followed by sweet spices such as cinnamon. On the palate it is lashing, fresh and pleasantly tannic. The medium body makes it easy to drink and has a pleasant fruity aftertaste balanced by an accentuated note of wood. An elegant, balanced, but never trivial wine, which remains deep in the memory of its drinker.
