Vintage 2018
Stars from the Consorzio Tutela Vini Valpolicella, for Amarone della Valpolicella
A very good year. Warm weather, plenty of water and a balanced harvest.
A warm year with good water reserves, balanced ripening and a slightly early harvest.
Spring was cold at first, then warm, with repeated spells of cold air and a lot of rain in the hills. Early summer was cool and unstable; from late July it turned hot, with local storms. Strong storms in early September caused local damage, with landslides and flooding in some vineyards. Harvest began on 10 September, four days ahead of the average, with good sugar, balanced acidity and heavier berries thanks to plenty of water.
Amarone della Valpolicella Docg “La Corte del Pozzo” by Fasoli Gino
Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG “La Corte del Pozzo” expresses the character of Valpolicella with depth, warmth, and balance. The name recalls the old family courtyard and the well where local residents once came to draw water, symbolizing a lasting connection with the land and community. The goose on the label, dressed in a jacket and tie, humorously represents the estate’s evolution toward refined organic winemaking, while the “Goose Approved” mark reflects a philosophy of sustainable and regenerative agriculture.
The wine shows a bright red color with purple tones that, with age, turn toward warm garnet shades. The aroma is rich and inviting, marked by prunes, blackberries, cherry syrup, and subtle hints of cinnamon and cloves. On the palate, it is full-bodied and harmonious, with firm but smooth tannins and ripe fruit notes that lead to a long, elegant finish.
The vineyards lie on the upper slopes of Valpolicella, where clay and limestone soils lend structure and freshness. The vines are trained in the traditional Pergola corta veronese system, producing low yields that ensure concentration and quality. During harvest, only the best, loosely packed and fully mature grape clusters are chosen for drying.
The grapes rest in small wooden crates for five to six months before pressing. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks for 25 to 35 days, followed by a long maturation of at least three years in oak barrels. The blend of Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella creates a wine of depth and harmony. It pairs beautifully with red meats, game, and mature cheeses, and can also be enjoyed at the end of a meal with almond biscuits or dry pastries. Classical music makes an elegant pairing, enhancing the calm and balanced rhythm of this wine.

Fasoli Gino is a family-run winery located in the heart of Valpolicella, where tradition and respect for the land guide every choice. Since 1925, the Fasoli family has focused on producing wines that express the character of their vineyards, combining generations of know-how with forward-looking agricultural practices.
In the 1980s, the winery made an important step toward organic farming, driven by the desire to maintain healthy soils and produce wines with genuine character. Over time, this approach expanded into biodynamic and regenerative methods, giving new life to the vineyards and surrounding environment.
The estate covers several plots across Valpolicella and Soave, with a variety of soils that bring different shades of flavor and structure to each wine. Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella form the foundation of their reds, while Garganega and other local grapes express the lighter side of the region.
Fasoli Gino’s wines are known for balance, depth, and clarity of fruit. From Amarone and Ripasso to Soave and Recioto, every bottle tells the story of careful work in the vineyard and patience in the cellar. Today, the family continues to combine tradition with innovation, guided by the same respect for nature that has defined their work for nearly a century.
