A very good year. A rainy spring, then a hot, sunny summer.
A cold, rainy spring and then a hot summer; careful vineyard work gave excellent results.
March and the spring were wet and cool: May alone had 18 rainy days and 229 mm, delaying flowering by about ten days. July and August were fine and hot. Hail struck the Classico zone on 24 August. From late August through September, wide swings between day and night built rich colour and tannin, and picking began at the usual time, from 20 September, with only scattered rain.
Amarone della Valpolicella Docg Classico Riserva “Fracastoro” by Villabella
The “Fracastoro” Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico Riserva expresses power and refinement, crafted only in standout vintages by Villabella. It is produced mainly from Corvina, Rondinella and Corvinone grapes sourced from the historic Classico zone of Valpolicella, where vines thrive on calcareous-clay soils and are trained in traditional pergola Veronese.
The grapes undergo a careful drying (appassimento) period in dedicated drying lofts. Maturation follows in large Slavonian oak casks and partially in French tonneaux, allowing the wine to gain depth, structure and elegance over time.
In the glass it presents a garnet-tinged red colour. The bouquet offers intense notes of cherries in syrup, black cherry, plum jam, along with clear spice echoes of cinnamon, clove, pipe tobacco and cocoa. On the palate it is dry yet smooth, warm and velvety, with abundant structure, enveloping fruit and spice, and a long, persistent finish. Ideal with red meats, game, or aged hard cheeses, it also demands presence and contemplation.

Vigneti Villabella is a family-owned winery based in Calmasino, near Lake Garda, at the heart of Veneto’s historic wine region. Founded in 1971 by Walter Delibori and Giorgio Cristoforetti, the estate has grown to encompass around 220 hectares of vineyards, each chosen for its distinctive soil and exposure.
The vineyards extend across the classic Veronese areas, from the morainic hills of Bardolino and the shores of Lake Garda to the limestone and clay slopes of Valpolicella Classica near Fumane. These diverse terroirs and the gentle climate moderated by the lake allow the production of wines with both freshness and depth.
Villabella’s range includes the great denominations of the region, Bardolino, Chiaretto, Valpolicella, Ripasso, Amarone, Lugana, Custoza, Soave, and Garda. Each wine is the result of attentive vineyard management and a strong focus on sustainability. A growing portion of the estate’s vineyards is cultivated organically, reflecting a long-term vision of environmental responsibility.
At the center of the estate stands Tenuta Villa Cordevigo, an 18th-century Venetian villa surrounded by vineyards. This is not only the heart of Villabella’s viticulture but also a place of hospitality and culture, where organic and sustainable farming methods guide every decision.
In the cellar, Villabella combines traditional Veronese varieties, Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella, with modern techniques that preserve fruit purity and structure. Wines are aged in large oak casks or barriques, depending on style, always aiming to highlight balance and authenticity.
