Description

Amarone della Valpolicella Docg Riserva “Scajari” by Gini

The Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Riserva “Scajari” by Gini is a wine shaped by the unique mineral-laden soils of Campiano, where vine roots delve deep into layers of stone. This Amarone reveals a character both complex and refined, with aromas that capture dark cherries, blackberries, and a subtle freshness that endures through years of aging.

Crafted from Corvina (60%), Corvinone (25%), Rondinella (10%), and Oseleta (5%), this wine’s deep ruby-red color hints at its depth. The bouquet offers a rich array of red fruit, particularly black cherry, followed by layers of cocoa, licorice, and tobacco, rounded off with intriguing mineral and spice notes.

On the palate, Scajari is dry, warm, and full-bodied, delivering an elegant balance between structure and acidity. The texture is dense and round, with an intense, lingering finish that leaves a lasting impression. With an aging potential of 25 to 30 years, this Amarone is perfect for savoring alongside game, braised meats, aged cheeses, or as a “Vino da Meditazione” to enjoy on its own. Best served at 16°-18°C, it’s a wine that rewards patience and invites appreciation for its layered complexity.

About Gini

Gini Winery has a rich heritage dating back to 1570, with the Gini family nurturing vineyards in Monteforte d'Alpone for over 15 generations. This enduring legacy reflects their deep-rooted passion and commitment to viticulture.

Situated in the heart of the Soave Classico region, Gini Winery is renowned for producing exceptional wines such as Soave and Recioto di Soave. The vineyards benefit from volcanic soils and unique microclimates, contributing to the distinctive character and longevity of their white wines.

Embracing a philosophy that harmonizes tradition with innovation, Gini Winery employs organic farming practices and maintains a profound respect for the environment. Their approach includes preserving old Garganega vines, some over a century old, and implementing high-density planting (up to 13,000 vines per hectare) to ensure low yields per vine, resulting in superior grape quality.

Gini's portfolio extends beyond Soave, encompassing red wines from their Tenuta Scajari estate in the eastern Valpolicella hills. Here, at altitudes between 400 and 600 meters, they cultivate varieties like Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella, producing wines that embody the elegance and complexity of this unique terroir.

Through a seamless blend of historical expertise and forward-thinking practices, Gini Winery continues to craft wines that authentically express the essence of their origins, offering a genuine taste of the Veneto region's rich viticultural heritage.
