Vintage 2022
From the vintage reports of the Consorzio Tutela Vini Valpolicella
A hot, dry year. Drought tested the vines, but rain in August helped them recover.
Hot, dry and early: the year of drought, managed through careful work on water.
From January to July only 190 mm of rain fell against an average of 450, a deficit of 60%, and May to July were hot. Young vines and vines on light soils suffered water stress, but rain in August helped most of them recover. Veraison came in late July, about two weeks early, and picking began around 5 September. Disease pressure stayed low; local hail fell in August and September.
Valpolicella Ripasso Doc “La Corte del Pozzo” by Fasoli Gino
Valpolicella Ripasso DOC “La Corte del Pozzo” brings together intensity, warmth, and harmony — a wine that tells the story of Fasoli Gino’s connection to Valpolicella. The name recalls the family courtyard and the well where local residents once came to draw water, a symbol of community and roots. The goose on the label, dressed in a jacket and tie, humorously represents the transformation of the estate’s organic wines over the years, while the Goose Approved mark highlights their pursuit of regenerative, environmentally respectful farming.
The color is a lively, deep ruby red. The aroma recalls cherries preserved in alcohol, with notes of wild berries and soft hints of vanilla. On the palate, the wine is smooth and velvety, with flavors of red fruits and a long, persistent finish supported by excellent structure.
The vineyards are located on the hillsides of Valpolicella, where clay and limestone soils bring balance and freshness. The vines are trained in the Pergola corta veronese system, with yields limited to around ten tonnes per hectare. Grapes are harvested by hand between late September and early October. After an initial fermentation, the wine is re-fermented in February on the Amarone grape skins for about fifteen days. A small quantity of dried grapes is added during this stage, enhancing body and complexity. The wine then matures in oak barrels for sixteen to twenty-four months and rests a further six months in bottle before release.
Made from Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella, this Ripasso shows the balance and generosity typical of Valpolicella. It pairs beautifully with grilled red meats, roasts, game, and aged cheeses. The producers suggest enjoying it with Acid Jazz — a fitting match for its rhythm, depth, and smooth style.

Fasoli Gino is a family-run winery located in the heart of Valpolicella, where tradition and respect for the land guide every choice. Since 1925, the Fasoli family has focused on producing wines that express the character of their vineyards, combining generations of know-how with forward-looking agricultural practices.
In the 1980s, the winery made an important step toward organic farming, driven by the desire to maintain healthy soils and produce wines with genuine character. Over time, this approach expanded into biodynamic and regenerative methods, giving new life to the vineyards and surrounding environment.
The estate covers several plots across Valpolicella and Soave, with a variety of soils that bring different shades of flavor and structure to each wine. Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella form the foundation of their reds, while Garganega and other local grapes express the lighter side of the region.
Fasoli Gino’s wines are known for balance, depth, and clarity of fruit. From Amarone and Ripasso to Soave and Recioto, every bottle tells the story of careful work in the vineyard and patience in the cellar. Today, the family continues to combine tradition with innovation, guided by the same respect for nature that has defined their work for nearly a century.
