Description

Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico by Benedetti La Villa

This Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG is produced by Benedetti La Villa from hand selected grapes grown in the historic Valpolicella Classica area. The wine reflects a traditional approach focused on structure, balance, and long aging potential.

Grapes are harvested by hand at full maturity and placed in wooden trays, where they rest for several months in dedicated drying lofts. This natural drying process concentrates sugars, aromas, and phenolic compounds. At the end of January, the grapes are destemmed and pressed. The resulting must and skins undergo a slow fermentation in stainless steel tanks, allowing for gentle extraction and aromatic precision.

After fermentation, the wine ages for several months in small to medium sized oak barrels, followed by further refinement in bottle. The robust structure, marked acidity, and high concentration of alcohol, glycerine, and polyphenols make this Amarone particularly suitable for long aging.

In the glass, it shows a deep garnet red color. The nose is intense and complex, with notes of cherry and morello cherry, plum compote, coffee, cocoa, nutmeg, and an elegant balsamic touch. On the palate, the structured profile is fully consistent with the aromas, offering depth, balance, and persistence.

This Amarone pairs naturally with game, braised meats, and aged cheeses, and rewards time and patience both in the glass and in the cellar.

Benedetti La Villa is a family run winery rooted in four generations of winemaking. Generous vineyards, sun exposed hills, and lean, limestone rich, stony soils define the estate’s setting. Since the late nineteenth century, beginning with Domenico Benedetti and continued by Giuseppe, Adriano, and today by Simone and Matteo Benedetti, the family has cultivated these lands following a natural and respectful approach to viticulture.

About Benedetti La Villa

Benedetti La Villa is a family run winery based in the heart of Valpolicella Classica, on the hills above Negrar, near Verona. The estate combines generations of local vineyard knowledge with a modern, precise approach in both the vineyard and the cellar.

The vineyards sit on hillside sites with limestone rich, stony soils that support balanced ripening and naturally bright wines. Traditional stone terraces are part of the landscape, helping manage slopes and water flow. The family has worked these lands since the mid nineteenth century, maintaining a strong link to place while improving equipment and techniques over time.

The name of the estate also connects to an important archaeological story. Beneath the vineyards, remains of a Roman villa were discovered, including striking mosaic floors with geometric and figurative motifs. This heritage has become part of the winery identity and is reflected in the way the family communicates its connection to the land.

Today the winery is led by brothers Simone and Matteo Benedetti, continuing the work shaped by their father Adriano and earlier generations. The range focuses on Valpolicella classics, from Valpolicella Classico to Ripasso, Amarone, and Recioto, with additional wines that reflect the character of the area.

Visits and tastings are available by appointment for guests who want to learn more about the estate, its vineyards, and its wines.
