Amarone della Valpolicella Docg “Campo dei Gigli” by Tenuta Sant’Antonio
The Tenuta Sant’Antonio winery presents the Amarone “Campo dei Gigli”, a wine that is perhaps the most renowned of the winery run by the four Castagneti brothers. This is a modern and refined enological pearl of Valpolicella, a classic wine of the region that renounces a touch of concentration in favor of greater finesse and tension.
The Amarone “Campo dei Gigli” is produced from a careful manual selection of the clusters in the company’s Monti Garbi vineyards, cultivated with meticulous care and respect for the environment. Pest control treatments are kept to a minimum, without the use of herbicides and with cluster thinning. The grapes are left to rest for up to three months in well-ventilated large rooms before undergoing alcoholic fermentation naturally in open 500-liter French oak tonneaux for about 60-70 days. The wine is then aged for 3 years in new tonneaux.
The Amarone “Campo dei Gigli” Tenuta Sant’Antonio boasts an intense fruity note on the nose that opens up to reveal hints of boisé and minerals, as well as scents of spices and fresh flowers, culminating in a chocolate finish. On the palate, it is austere and elegant, with impeccable balance. The tannins provide a prodigious performance and give way to a deep and widespread mineral depth, allowing the Amarone “Campo dei Gigli” to fully express its character and its masterful richness.
