The Amarone “Campo dei Gigli” is a flagship wine of Tenuta Sant’Antonio, produced from a blend of indigenous grape varieties and aged in French oak tonneaux. A very good year. Hot and dry, with an early harvest of sweet, deeply coloured grapes.
A hot, dry year with an early harvest and grapes rich in sugar and colour.
Little rain fell from the winter onward. Late frost in April damaged a small area near San Martino Buon Albergo. June to August were hot, at times with drought and some sunburn in mid June. Hail in late August and early September, mostly in Valpantena and the east, hurt quality rather than quantity. Corvina was picked in the first week of September, about ten days earlier than in 2016, with high sugar, low malic acid and very good colour potential. The heat kept most diseases away.

The Amarone “Campo dei Gigli” by Tenuta Sant’Antonio is a renowned wine, considered a modern and sophisticated jewel of the Valpolicella region. This classic wine of the territory prioritizes finesse and tension over concentration, creating a well-rounded and balanced taste.
The grapes for the Amarone “Campo dei Gigli” are carefully selected and hand-picked from the company’s vineyards located in Monti Garbi. These grapes are cultivated with great care, maintaining a balance with the environment. To achieve this balance, minimal pest treatments are used without any herbicides, and the grape clusters are thinned. After harvest, the grapes are left to rest in well-ventilated areas for up to three months. Natural alcoholic fermentation occurs in open 500-liter French oak tonneaux for 60-70 days, followed by a 3-year aging process in new tonneaux.
The nose of this Amarone is dominated by an intense fruity aroma, which gradually opens up to reveal boisé and mineral scents, followed by a bouquet of fresh flowers, spices, and a hint of chocolate. The palate entrance is austere and elegant, exhibiting an impeccable balance. The tannins are perfectly balanced and combine with a deep mineral flavor that allows the Amarone “Campo dei Gigli” to showcase its character and masterful richness.
With an impervious ruby-red color and purple reflections, the wine boasts an excellent aroma of wild fruits, along with licorice, black pepper, tobacco, spices, and chocolate notes. The taste is well-balanced, with a perfect combination of tannins and mineral depth, making it ideal for pairing with grilled meats, aged cheeses, and flavorful pasta dishes.

Tenuta Sant’Antonio is led by four brothers who have been involved with vines and the land from an early age. Their roots in farming and strong ambitions are evident in the attention they give to every stage of production, always aiming for outstanding results.
Their vineyards lie between Soave and Valpolicella, two renowned areas with distinct characteristics. Valpolicella’s name comes from “Vallis-polis-cellae,” or “valley of many cellars”, reflecting a centuries-old winemaking tradition on compact limestone soils, moderated by breezes from Lake Garda. Soave belongs to the eastern Lessini Mountains, formed millions of years ago by underwater volcanic activity and the accumulation of fossil-based sediments. Both vineyard zones stand between 120 and 130 meters above sea level near the Alps, which provide a favorable climate for grape cultivation.
