Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico Riserva “Sergio Zenato” by Zenato Winery
The Amarone Classico Riserva “Sergio Zenato” is the spearhead of the Zenato winery, one of the most well-founded and appreciated Italian wineries, an international institution, a pride of the Veneto Region. The importance of this bottle, within the winery’s award-winning range, is affirmed by the name of “Sergio Zenato”, founder and progenitor, who recently passed away.
The “Sergio Zenato” Amarone Riserva is born only in the best vintages from a selection of Corvina, Rondinella and Oseleta, hand-picked in small boxes in the oldest vineyards of Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella, in the heart of the appellation. After harvesting, the grapes are left to dry in the drying rooms for three / four months and, only in January, they are pressed and left to ferment on the skins for 15/20 days. The aging of the wine takes place in oak barrels for at least 4 years, then in the bottle for at least 1 year.
Thanks to the long aging time, the excellence of the vineyards and the work of the Zenato cellar, the Amarone Classico Riserva “Sergio Zenato” is a splendid Amarone, with a rich, intense and robust profile, with great personality. The nose releases aromas of black cherries in alcohol, ripe berries, spices and menthol notes. The taste is full, intense, with an exuberant alcoholic strength and a dense tannic texture, with a long, enchanting, slightly almond finish. An Amarone Riserva that carries within it all the personality of the great Venetian wine, with the soul of the Zenato winery.
