Vintage 2018
Stars from the Consorzio Tutela Vini Valpolicella, for Amarone della Valpolicella
A very good year. Warm weather, plenty of water and a balanced harvest.
A warm year with good water reserves, balanced ripening and a slightly early harvest.
Spring was cold at first, then warm, with repeated spells of cold air and a lot of rain in the hills. Early summer was cool and unstable; from late July it turned hot, with local storms. Strong storms in early September caused local damage, with landslides and flooding in some vineyards. Harvest began on 10 September, four days ahead of the average, with good sugar, balanced acidity and heavier berries thanks to plenty of water.
Amarone della Valpolicella Docg “Morandina” by Graziano Prà
The Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG by Graziano Prà is a meticulously crafted wine from the Mezzane and Tregnago regions, with vineyards planted in 2001 on south-east facing slopes at 450 meters altitude. The calcareous soil and unique microclimate create a refined balance of power and freshness. Comprising Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Oseleta grapes, the vines are carefully managed using the Guyot system, yielding only 30 hl per hectare.
Harvested in early October, the best grapes undergo a traditional appassimento process in small crates for two months. The wine is then fermented using the délestage method, followed by malolactic fermentation in vertical steel tanks for 15 days. It matures for two years in Allier tonneaux and barriques, then an additional year in 20-hectoliter oak barrels before final bottling. After a year of aging in the bottle, this wine is released.
Ruby red in color, Amarone by Graziano Prà delivers intense, complex aromas. On the palate, rich flavors of cherry and plum are balanced with hints of bitter cocoa and licorice. Its bold structure is harmonized by bright acidity and firm tannins, imparted by the altitude and calcareous soil. The result is a wine that is both powerful and elegant, embodying Graziano Prà’s vision of an Amarone that can elevate any meal.
Perfectly paired with rich, spiced meats, game, and aged cow’s milk cheeses, this Amarone is designed to bring the depth and complexity of this renowned wine back to the dining table.

Graziano Prà focuses on Soave and Valpolicella wines, relying on hillside vineyards in prime locations. In Soave, volcanic soils define around forty hectares of vines, while in Valpolicella there are eight hectares with flaky calcareous composition influenced by cooler currents from the Lessini Mountains. Each parcel adds character through its microclimate and native grape varieties, Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave in one area, Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Oseleta in the other.
Raised in a winemaking family, Graziano Prà values grapes that speak authentically of where they grow. By studying and testing different approaches over time, he chose technological screw caps to best preserve freshness and longevity, particularly important for Soave wines. Work in the cellar follows precise steps: yields are kept low, grapes are carefully selected, and fermentation temperatures remain controlled. White wines avoid malolactic fermentation, and only free-run must is used to highlight varietal character. Throughout this process, inert gas helps prevent oxidation, and minimal handling after fermentation ensures natural purity.
Renewable energy, primarily solar, powers the winery, showing respect for the land that supports these vineyards. Every decision, from sustainable viticultural practices to specific cellar methods, aims to achieve wines with lasting elegance and clarity, revealing a true sense of place in Soave and Valpolicella.
