Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG “Marne 180” by Tedeschi
Discover the epitome of Venetian winemaking tradition in Tedeschi’s Amarone della Valpolicella “Marne 180”. Crafted by a family dedicated to the art of wine for over four centuries, this exquisite red wine is a tribute to style, structure, and balance. Rooted in the illustrious hills of Valpolicella, the blend features 35% Corvina, 35% Corvinone, 20% Rondinella, and 10% Rossignola grapes, each with an average vine age of 20 years. The vineyards thrive on a unique soil composition of red clay and limestone, enriched by a sturdy rock structure.
Harvested between late September and early October, each grape bunch undergoes rigorous selection to ensure perfect ripeness. A traditional drying process spanning approximately four months concentrates the flavors, reducing water content while enriching the natural sugars. The grape berry’s iconic role during this period is even honored on the wine label, symbolizing its almost ritualistic importance in the creation of this masterpiece.
Fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled steel tanks, taking between 40 to 60 days to ensure optimal flavor extraction. The wine is then aged in Slavonian oak barrels for 36 months, achieving a rich, velvety character.
