Vintage 2015Exceptional vintage
Stars from the Consorzio Tutela Vini Valpolicella, for Amarone della Valpolicella
An exceptional year. A hot, dry summer and an early harvest of very healthy grapes.
A year of extremes: record heat and little rain, with healthy grapes and an early harvest.
The winter was warm, and the following months set twenty year records for maximum temperatures, July above all. April and July were very dry. Flowering came early, in late May and early June, and the heat of July and August did not slow ripening. The hot, dry weather kept downy mildew, powdery mildew and botrytis away, while careful vineyard work eased the stress on the vines. Harvest from about 10 September.

“Hurlo” by Garbole
Hurlo is the most emblematic wine produced by Garbole and represents the purest expression of the winery’s philosophy. Conceived as a wine of identity and creative freedom, it is produced only in the most suitable years and in extremely limited quantities, with each bottle individually numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
The wine is born from a distinctive blend of native Veronese grape varieties led by Corvina, the historic grape of Valpolicella, alongside several rare local varieties that contribute to its unique personality. Part of the grapes undergoes a drying process before fermentation, concentrating aromas, structure and depth.
In the glass, Hurlo shows an intense ruby red color with remarkable density. The bouquet is rich and complex, opening with ripe red fruit such as cherry, plum and black cherry jam, followed by almond, balsamic nuances and a fresh hint of mint. With aeration the aromatic profile evolves further, revealing notes of vanilla, chocolate, coffee and licorice that add depth and elegance.
On the palate it is full bodied, powerful and enveloping, with a velvety texture and impressive persistence. Despite its concentration, a lively acidity keeps the wine balanced and vibrant, leading to a long and harmonious finish. Hurlo is conceived as a wine of character and intensity, capable of long ageing while maintaining its expressive complexity.
It pairs naturally with rich dishes such as braised meats, game, roasted red meat and aged cheeses, but it can also be enjoyed slowly on its own as a contemplative wine.

Garbole is a small, independent wine estate founded in 1994 by brothers Ettore and Filippo Finetto. It is based in Tregnago, in the Valle d’Illasi area of the province of Verona, between Soave and Valpolicella.
The Finetto brothers define Garbole through a clear and personal approach: working as growers and winemakers with full control over decisions in the vineyard and cellar, and aiming for continuous improvement year after year. Their communication and materials emphasize independence and creative freedom, with a strong focus on red wines made in their own style and at their own pace.
Garbole has opened a dedicated direct sales, visit, and tasting location at its new site in San Zeno di Colognola ai Colli (VR), at Via Ceriani, 31. Visits and tastings are available by appointment only.
Among the best known labels of the estate are L’Hurlo, Hatteso, and Heletto, wines that reflect Garbole’s commitment to concentration, structure, and long ageing, shaped by a strongly individual identity.
