Rosato “Ropie” 2023
Monte dei Ragni is a small estate run by Zeno Zignoli in Fumane, in the Valpolicella Classica zone, on a ridge whose name appears in a nineteenth-century Austrian land registry. The estate covers around 8 hectares, of which just over 2 are planted to vine, producing a maximum of 5,000 to 7,000 bottles per year in total across all wines. Ropié is a still rosato made from Corvina and Molinara, the indigenous varieties of the Valpolicella area, produced by manual pressing and free-run must only, with no mechanical extraction. Fermentation proceeds spontaneously, in keeping with the biodynamic approach applied across the estate. The wine shows a deep raspberry-tinged pink and delivers a broad aromatic range of crunchy red fruit, spice, aromatic herbs, and a pronounced mineral and saline quality that carries through on the palate.
