Description

Valpolicella Doc Classico Superiore “Tirele” 2023 by Tenuta Villa Bellini

Valpolicella Doc Classico Superiore “Tirele” by Tenuta Villa Bellini is a dynamic wine that vividly expresses the character of its vineyard and the nuances of its vintage. Tirele is fresh and direct, harmoniously balancing lively spices with ripe red fruit notes, gently enriched by delicate floral aromas and subtle balsamic undertones. Carefully aged for one year in steel vats and further refined for six months in bottle, it develops a refined aromatic depth and pleasantly firm tannins.

A versatile companion at the table, Tirele pairs exceptionally well with medium-aged cheeses, spicy cold cuts, mushroom or truffle risottos, and dishes featuring pork or poultry. Its balanced acidity also complements sophisticated fish recipes like fried seafood or traditional salt cod “alla Vicentina”. Slightly chilled, it serves as a delightful aperitif even in warmer weather.

Harvested by hand during a notably dry and hot vintage in 2022, this wine benefitted from careful vineyard management, minimal intervention, and late-summer rains that revived the grapes just in time for harvest. Produced from organically cultivated native varieties—Corvina, Rondinella, Corvinone, Molinara, and other selected local grapes—Tirele matures beautifully, promising 5 to 8 years of further development.

Tirele is a wine that clearly speaks of Castelrotto’s uniquely diverse soils, where limestone-rich land and hidden water sources define the aromatic character. The mixed training system of traditional Trentino Pergola and densely planted bush vines, some over a century old, further contributes to the complexity and finesse of this expressive Valpolicella Superiore.

About Tenuta Villa Bellini

Tenuta Villa Bellini stands on a lush hillside of Castelrotto, in San Pietro in Cariano, Valpolicella Classica. The estate, dating back to the 18th century, is surrounded by ancient cypress trees, chestnuts, traditional dry stone "marogne," and features a hidden spring within a cave, along with a tranquil pond that gently merges into surrounding woodlands.

The vineyards span four hectares, forming a carefully preserved "brolo," or walled garden, on terraced slopes facing east and southeast at an elevation of 150 meters. Richly diverse soils, abundant in limestone and underground springs, provide depth and distinctive aromas to the organically grown native grape varieties: Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Molinara, along with selected ancient Veronese vines.

Organic cultivation here is a conscious choice rooted in respect for biodiversity. Vineyard management prioritizes green manure, selective mowing to sustain pollinator populations, and precise, minimal organic treatments tailored to individual vineyard needs. Vine-training methods include traditional pergolas and high-density vertical espaliers, nurturing vines aged from 20 to over 100 years.

At Tenuta Villa Bellini, grapes are harvested and selected entirely by hand, with spontaneous fermentation and microvinification techniques emphasizing minimal intervention. Each vintage naturally expresses the authentic personality of the terroir.

The philosophy at Villa Bellini is clear and sincere: return the earth’s gifts in their purest form, letting each wine speak genuinely of its unique place of origin.
