Description

Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico by Le Bignele

A wine that masterfully blends strength with elegance. Originating from the heart of Valpolicella, this prestigious wine is crafted from local grapes, carefully hand-selected to ensure the highest quality. The deep ruby red color of the wine speaks volumes about its intensity and depth.

The aging process in barrels bestows the Amarone with a complex and evolving scent. It starts with the heady aroma of cherry spirits and gradually unveils a spectrum of spices, encapsulating the essence of its meticulous aging. On the palate, the wine unfolds in a kaleidoscope of flavors, marked by its bold and persistent nature. Yet, it remains as enveloping as silk, showcasing a harmonious blend of strength and elegance.

This Amarone is the perfect accompaniment to a variety of dishes. It pairs excellently with game meats, enhancing the flavors with its robust character. It also complements dark chocolate and aged cheeses, making it a versatile choice for an array of culinary experiences.

Delving into the winemaking process, the Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is presented in a 750 ml Borgognotta bottle. It is a dry red wine, composed of a blend of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Molinara grapes. The vineyard, located in the hilly terrain of Marano di Valpolicella, boasts vines aged 35-40 years, thriving on clay-limestone soil and cultivated under the traditional Pergola Veronese system.

The grapes are hand-picked from mid to late September, followed by a meticulous selection process. They are then left to dry for a minimum of 90 days, capturing the essence of the region’s terroir. The vinification process begins in winter, between December and January. The wine undergoes fermentation at a controlled temperature and is then aged in oak barrels ranging from 25 to 38 hl for a minimum of three years. This is followed by further maturation in the bottle for at least six months.

In terms of organoleptic characteristics, the Amarone boasts an intensely rich ruby red color. Its aroma is ethereal and fragrant, offering a complex bouquet that ranges from cherry spirits to an array of spices such as nutmeg, licorice, tobacco, and cocoa bean. On the palate, the wine reveals a great structure and body, presenting a soft and velvety texture that is both powerful and elegant.

For the best experience, it is recommended to store the bottle horizontally at a temperature of 10-15°C, away from light. The ideal serving temperature is 14-16°C in large glasses. The Amarone pairs beautifully with game, grilled meats, roasts, braised dishes, and aged cheeses. Its intriguing compatibility with dark chocolate makes it an exquisite choice for meditation and reflection.

In essence, the Amarone della Valpolicella Docg Classico by Le Bignele is not just a wine; it’s a celebration of the richness of the land, a testament to passion, patience, and the quintessence of Italian elegance.

About Le Bignele

The Aldrighetti family has cultivated the hills of Valpolicella Classica since 1818. Generations of growers have preserved both tradition and a passion for winemaking, steadily expanding their holdings to today’s nine hectares of vines in the valleys of Marano di Valpolicella, Negrar, and San Pietro in Cariano. The estate’s roots trace back to the “Bignele” area near the village of Valgatara, where the family began raising grapes along with other crops.

Over the centuries, the Aldrighettis have refined methods that balance time-honored practices with modern techniques. Father Luigi and uncle Angelo serve as the pillars of the winery, overseeing vineyard work, the delicate processes in the cellar, and quality control at every stage. Siblings Nicola, Silvia, and Cecilia now continue the tradition, dividing responsibilities in the vineyard, cellar, and direct customer relations. They also manage bottling, labeling, tastings, and the estate’s lodging.

Each year, the family unites for harvest, carefully selecting fruit for the creation of classic Valpolicella wines. In addition to their vineyards, they maintain cherry trees that bloom romantically in spring and provide sweet fruit in summer, yielding jams and nectars available both at the winery and in their guest accommodation. Visitors are welcome to explore the property, discover the wines, and share in the Aldrighetti family’s long-standing connection to the land and its gifts.
