Garbole
Amarone & Valpolicella Wines by Garbole Winery
Garbole is a boutique winery based in Tregnago, in the Val d’Illasi valley, an eastern hillside area of the province of Verona. The estate sits between Soave and Valpolicella, a zone known for its native Veronese varieties and for wines that combine ripeness with altitude-driven freshness.
The winery was founded in 1994 by brothers Ettore and Filippo Finetto. Their project began as a small, hands-on initiative and grew into a focused, independent estate built around a clear idea: produce wines with a strong identity, shaped as much by place as by the personal vision of the people behind them. From the beginning, Garbole has positioned itself outside standard patterns of production, choosing autonomy and continuous improvement over conventional expectations.
The vineyards occupy hilly sites at roughly 300 to 450 meters above sea level. These elevations favor slower ripening, cooler nights, and a natural preservation of aromatic precision and balance. Garbole’s approach emphasizes careful grape selection and a style aimed at depth and longevity, with a particular focus on red wines rooted in local tradition yet interpreted with an unmistakably personal signature.
Garbole’s identity is closely tied to a philosophy of independence and creative freedom. The Finetto brothers highlight the importance of making wines at their own pace and according to their own criteria, focusing on intensity, complexity, and structure rather than uniformity. Production is intentionally limited, with a compact range of labels and releases that may vary depending on the suitability of the vintage.
The estate is particularly known for wines such as Hurlo, Hatteso, and Heletto, each expressing a different angle of the Garbole approach, consistently marked by concentration, layered aromatics, and strong ageing potential.
Garbole also welcomes visitors by appointment at its dedicated tasting and direct sales location in San Zeno di Colognola ai Colli (Verona), offering a direct connection between the estate and those who want to explore its wines in depth.
