Villa Girardi
Wines by Villa Girardi
In the valley between San Pietro in Cariano and Fumane, within the historic area of Valpolicella Classica, Villa Girardi has developed as a family-run estate closely tied to the traditions of the region. Surrounded by vineyards and shaped by a long agricultural presence, the winery reflects a direct relationship with its landscape.
The estate was founded in 1986 and is directed by Franco Tommasi, who has guided its development with a focus on continuity and on the classic expressions of Valpolicella. Over time, the winery has expanded its vineyard holdings across different DOC areas of the Verona province.
At the centre of the estate stands a Venetian villa dating back to the late 18th century, which gives the winery its name and identity. The surrounding vineyards are cultivated with the traditional grape varieties of the region, including Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella.
A key element of production is the use of the appassimento method, fundamental to the wines of Valpolicella, where grapes are dried to increase concentration and complexity before vinification.
In the cellar, ageing takes place in dedicated spaces designed for the refinement of the most structured wines, allowing for a gradual development of aroma and texture.
Production includes the classic wines of the area, from Valpolicella and Ripasso to Amarone and Recioto, alongside other Veronese denominations. The wines follow a traditional profile, combining structure, depth and clarity.
Today, Villa Girardi presents a consistent interpretation of Valpolicella Classica, shaped by family management, established practices and a close link to its historical setting.
