Bolla
Amarone and Valpolicella Wines by Bolla
Bolla is one of Italy’s historic wine producers, founded in 1883 by Abele Bolla in the town of Soave, Veneto. Over time, the winery expanded its vineyards into renowned zones such as Valpolicella and Bardolino, gaining international recognition for the quality and character of its wines. The heart of Bolla’s production lies in the Veneto region, with operations in both Soave and Pedemonte in Valpolicella. Here, the vineyards are planted with traditional varieties such as Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Molinara for red wines, and Garganega for whites. The combination of volcanic soils in Soave and hillside terrain in Valpolicella gives Bolla wines their distinct regional character.
From its early years, Bolla built a reputation for excellence and became one of the first Veneto wineries to bring Italian wines to global markets. Today, as part of Gruppo Italiano Vini, it continues to balance tradition and innovation, maintaining a deep connection to the Veneto while producing wines appreciated worldwide. The winery’s philosophy is centered on authenticity and respect for its land—combining historical methods such as the appassimento technique with precise modern winemaking.
A defining chapter in Bolla’s history is the creation of its Amarone “Le Origini.” Produced for the first time in 1953, this wine marked a turning point not only for the winery but also for the entire Valpolicella region. The story began when Bolla’s winemakers, following the traditional practice of drying grapes, noticed that a batch of Recioto had fermented completely dry. The result was a powerful and dry red wine with great structure and elegance. That wine became the first Amarone produced on a commercial scale, setting a new reference point for the category. “Le Origini” continues to honor that discovery—a wine that combines history, innovation, and the unique character of Valpolicella’s hills.
Bolla’s current range includes some of the Veneto’s most characteristic wines. The Amarone della Valpolicella Classico “Le Origini” shows the richness and depth achieved through grape drying and long ageing, while the Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore offers a full-bodied and balanced style. The Soave Classico “Le Tufaie” highlights the freshness and minerality typical of the region’s volcanic soils. Together, these wines express the diversity of Veneto’s terroirs and the long experience behind Bolla’s production.
For All’Amarone, Bolla stands as a symbol of consistency and regional identity—a producer that connects the Soave and Valpolicella zones in one coherent story. Its wines are ideal for tastings, curated selections, and educational moments, helping guests understand the tradition and depth of Veneto winemaking through one of its most historic names.
