Stars from the Consorzio Tutela Vini Valpolicella, for Amarone della Valpolicella
A very good year. A dry spring, then a very rainy summer; quality varied from area to area.
An uneven year: dry until flowering, then very wet, with a harvest that varied from area to area.
January to May was drier and slightly warmer than usual. June to August brought 575 mm of rain at San Pietro in Cariano and 461 mm at Illasi, against about 230 mm in a normal year, with some hail in June and August. Downy mildew pressed hard after the rains, luckily once fruit set was over; later, botrytis and rot needed care, helped by the September weather. Picking began around 13 September.
Amarone della Valpolicella Docg Classico by Villabella
This Amarone Classico is produced in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica area from carefully selected Corvina, Rondinella, and Corvinone grapes grown on the region’s traditional calcareous and clay soils. The vineyards, located on the hills of the historic Valpolicella communes, benefit from excellent exposure and natural ventilation.
After harvest, the grapes are laid to dry for 80 to 100 days in well-ventilated drying rooms, allowing a slow concentration of sugars and aromas. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature for around 18 to 20 days. The wine is then aged in large Slavonian oak casks, where it develops balance, depth, and elegance before bottling.
In the glass, it displays a deep garnet-red color. The bouquet opens with rich aromas of preserved cherries, dried plums, and wild berries, followed by notes of cocoa, sweet spices, and a gentle hint of vanilla. On the palate, it is full-bodied and enveloping, with velvety tannins and a long, harmonious finish.
Perfect with roasted or braised red meats, game dishes, and mature cheeses, this Amarone expresses the authentic character and refinement of Valpolicella’s winemaking tradition.

Vigneti Villabella is a family-owned winery based in Calmasino, near Lake Garda, at the heart of Veneto’s historic wine region. Founded in 1971 by Walter Delibori and Giorgio Cristoforetti, the estate has grown to encompass around 220 hectares of vineyards, each chosen for its distinctive soil and exposure.
The vineyards extend across the classic Veronese areas, from the morainic hills of Bardolino and the shores of Lake Garda to the limestone and clay slopes of Valpolicella Classica near Fumane. These diverse terroirs and the gentle climate moderated by the lake allow the production of wines with both freshness and depth.
Villabella’s range includes the great denominations of the region, Bardolino, Chiaretto, Valpolicella, Ripasso, Amarone, Lugana, Custoza, Soave, and Garda. Each wine is the result of attentive vineyard management and a strong focus on sustainability. A growing portion of the estate’s vineyards is cultivated organically, reflecting a long-term vision of environmental responsibility.
At the center of the estate stands Tenuta Villa Cordevigo, an 18th-century Venetian villa surrounded by vineyards. This is not only the heart of Villabella’s viticulture but also a place of hospitality and culture, where organic and sustainable farming methods guide every decision.
In the cellar, Villabella combines traditional Veronese varieties, Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella, with modern techniques that preserve fruit purity and structure. Wines are aged in large oak casks or barriques, depending on style, always aiming to highlight balance and authenticity.
Vigneti Villabella represents the harmony between land, tradition, and innovation, offering wines that express the true character of the Veneto region with elegance and integrity.
